Introduction

Peikutso Lake is a beautiful alpine salty lake located between Gyirong County and Nyalam County at 40 kilometers to the east of Gyirong county. The lake sits at an elevation of at least 4600 meters with its water stretching to over 300 square kilometers. It is close to Mt. Shishapangma which is the world’s 14th highest mountain.

Next to the lake is a natural habitat for numerous birds and wild animals like foxes, wolves, wild donkeys and Tibetan antelopes amongst many other more animals.

Things to see and do on Peikutso Lake

Visitors get to interact with the immense beauty of Peikutso Lake first hand seeing bright blue turquoise waters against a backdrop of snow-capped Himalayan mountains and mountain Everest. In addition, there is an abundant number of wild animals to see such as foxes, gazelles, wild horses, deers, foxes, wolves and black-necked cranes, as well as domesticated yaks and sheep.
