Pearl River Night

　　The Pearl River is 2,124 kilometers long, as the largest river in South China and the third largest in China. It is the 'Mother River' of Guangzhou.

　　A charming one-hour cruise on it may be a most romantic way to enjoy the appealing city views.

　　On the water you get a refreshingly different and open panorama of the city; the picturesque and diversified waterfronts and river views are a feast for the senses during the day, at sunset, or at night. It's perfect to catch your breath away from the crowds on land.

　　The ancient reproduction wooden vessel called the "South Sea God (南海神号)" is the best for your cruise. Its classical and elegant setup will satisfy your taste for culture.

　　Tianzi Pier (on Yanjiang Zhong Road) and Fangcun Pier (on the Bai-er-tan Bar Street) are the ports of call. The Tianzi Pier was where visiting emperors, queens, and state officials from China's capital once disembarked at Canton during ancient times.

　　In downtown section of the river, there is a huge stone island standing in the way of flowing water. The island has been washed by the river water for thousands of years and polished to resemble a big shiny pearl. And it is called "the pearl stone in the sea" by the locals. Therefore, the river is is called the Pearl River.

　　The Pearl River consists of five rivers, including Xijiang (the West River), Beijiang(the North River), Dongjiang (the East River), Liuxihe (the Liuxi River) and Xunjiang (the Xun River). The main stream Xijiang (the West River) originates from a Caster water cave at Mahongshan, Qujing city, Yunnan province. It runs across Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi, and Guangdong provinces.
