Located on the south bank of Jinjiang River, Chengdu, Wangjianglou Park and River Watching Tower is one of three famous cultural relics in Chengdu. Wangjianglou Park and River Watching Tower is dedicated to a woman, Xue Tao, a poet in the Tang Dynasty (618-907). Xue Tao was born in a turbulent society . She had a hard life after her father's death, eventually becoming a singer. She was versatile and beautiful. History records that she wrote 500 poems and that her contemporaries greatly admired her.
　　Bamboos will get your attention as you enter the park. There are over 150 kinds of bamboos from home and abroad growing here for honoring her. Wangjianglou Park and River Watching Tower has elegant garden of bamboo in Chengdu.
　　Built in 1889,Wangjianglou Park and River Watching Tower has become a Chengdu landmark. Covered with luxuriant forests and bamboo groves, Wangjianglou Park and River Watching Tower is next to the bank of Jinjiang River and encompasses an area of 120,000 square meters.The most exquisite and magnificent structure in the park is Chongli Pavilion, also known as Wangjiang Tower. It was reconstructed during the late Qing Dynasty and has four stories with a total height of over 30 meters. It is beautiful with a square upturned eave on the two lower stories and an octagonal eave on the upper two stories, vermilion columns, glazed tiles and gilt cupola. Surrounded by the best natural beauty, it has become a symbol of Chengdu.
